About the City

Founded in 1565, St. Augustine is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established city in the continental United States. This historic coastal community blends more than 450 years of history with the energy and conveniences of modern living.

Although many people assume St. Augustine is much larger, the city covers only 13 square miles and is home to approximately 16,000 residents. Each year, however, millions of visitors travel here, creating a vibrant environment unlike any other.

St. Augustine is located in St. Johns County, one of Florida’s fastest-growing counties, with a population of more than 300,000 residents. The city’s character and the county’s continued growth create a connected community that offers both opportunity and an exceptional quality of life.
